Well known Pender naturalist, Gerry McKeating, leads this easy walk at Magic Lake. We are likely to see some of our returning winter birds within easy viewing distance from the elevated bank along Schooner Way. A scope will be available so you can get close-up looks at the differences between American Wigeons, Ring-necked Ducks, Buffleheads, or Common Mergansers, along with waterbirds that frequent the lake year round. Occasionally, we are lucky enough to spot an American Coot. This will be a good “warm-up” for the Christmas Bird Count season. We gather as usual at the Anglican Church upper parking lot to meet any non-members and carpool to Magic Lake, or feel free to go directly to the Schooner Way end of the lake. There is no charge for this activity.
