Pender Island Field Naturalists (PIFN), in support of Audubon, invites you to join the 120th annual Christmas Bird Count (CBC). On December 14, participants from Pender, Mayne and Saturna Islands will be part of the world’s longest-running wildlife census, which contributes invaluable data to bird population research. In past years about 100 species have been recorded and we expect to see a similar number this year. You can count birds at your feeder or arrange to meet up with PIFN members who will be out at various locations on the island throughout the day. One opportunity is to meet at the west end of Magic Lake (Mailbox) and spend an hour or two in the area with an experienced PIFN birder. For details on all of the forgoing please contact John Peetsma at PenderCBC@shaw.ca. The birders will be in the field for the day come rain, snow or shine.

The day will culminate in a Potluck Supper at the Legion at 6 p.m. where we can share our delicious dishes, submit our results and trade reports of unusual sightings. A cash bar will be available. Please let us know at email@example.com if you plan to attend. For Potluck contributions, please contact Marilyn Pickwell at firstname.lastname@example.org.
