B.C. Coastal Waterbird Survey

Each month, on the 2nd Sunday from September to April, PIFN volunteers visit local shorelines to count waterbirds. The data they gather, along with weather conditions, people and dogs visiting the site during the count, and boating activity is submitted to Bird Studies Canada. This agency monitors species trends. Local data can be viewed at www.bsc-eoc.org, under the heading, Citizen Science.
